Methanex signs MoU to enhance process safety in Egypt’s petroleum sector

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Methanex Egypt to enhance risk management systems and strengthen process safety culture in the petroleum sector.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2025) in Cairo, outlines Methanex Egypt’s commitment to funding projects that improve process safety. This includes a pilot initiative to implement an integrated process safety management system in one of the sector’s companies, leveraging the expertise of specialised consultants and graduates from capacity-building programmes.

As part of the collaboration, a specialised diploma in process safety management will be launched in partnership with the American University in Cairo, equipping Egyptian professionals with cutting-edge global best practices.

The agreement underscores the ministry’s commitment to strengthening process safety, ensuring operational continuity, and achieving the highest standards of protection and sustainability in Egypt’s petroleum sector.
