Egypt nominates El-Enany as UNESCO director-general

Egypt has nominated Khaled El-Enany, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, to be director-general of the UNESCO, as the election will be held in the last quarter of 2025.

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly made the announcement on Wednesday at a press conference at the cabinet premises in the New Administrative Capital.

El-Enany was in the cabinet as Minister of Antiquities from March 2016 to December 2019, becoming the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities from December 2019 to August 2022.
