Egypt plans teacher salary increases from next academic year
Egypt plans to raise teachers’ salaries from the next academic year as part of government efforts to improve their financial conditions, the finance and education ministries said on Monday.
Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif discussed measures to raise teachers’ incomes at the Finance Ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital.
The two ministers affirmed their continued efforts to approve a salary increase for teachers by the start of the next academic year, the ministries said in a joint statement.
The measure is intended to improve teachers’ financial stability and support their role in the education system, the statement said.
Kouchouk said the Finance Ministry was committed to supporting efforts to improve teachers’ financial conditions and increase their incomes.
The ministry will continue coordinating with the Education Ministry to develop the financial and administrative mechanisms needed to improve teachers’ conditions, while taking into account government priorities and the state budget’s capacity, he said.
Abdel Latif said improving teachers’ conditions would remain a top priority for the Education Ministry and welcomed continued cooperation between the two ministries.
The meeting also discussed measures to improve teachers’ working environment and support education quality, the statement said.
