Egypt plans to build new Japan-financed airport terminal in Borg El-Arab

State-run Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN) plans to establish a new terminal for Borg El-Arab Airport, with a capacity of up to 4 million passengers a year.

Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on Sunday, Ismail Aboulezz – EHCAAN chairman – said the company would start building the new terminal within next July, with total cost of $150 million.

Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will fund the establishment of Borg El-Arab Airport’s planned terminal, Aboulezz added.

By building the new terminal, the total capacity of Borg El-Arab Airport will rise to 5.6 million passengers a year, the Egyptian official said.
