Egypt seeks to host EBRD annual meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2027

Egypt hopes to host the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) annual meeting in Sharm El-Sheikh in May 2027, Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Atty said on Wednesday.

Abdel-Atty made the remarks during a meeting with EBRD Vice President for Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman, where the two discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and the bank.

Hosting the annual meeting would reflect the EBRD’s confidence in Egypt’s economy, resilience, and growth prospects, Abdel-Atty said.

Egypt is the EBRD’s largest country of operations in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean, and Cairo is seeking to deepen cooperation with the bank across a range of economic and investment sectors.

Abdel-Atty praised the EBRD’s role in supporting Egypt’s economic development and structural reforms, describing the relationship between Egypt and the bank as a strategic partnership.
