Egypt sets wheat purchase prices tied to purity

Egypt’s Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade set the purchase prices for local wheat based on quality levels, the Egyptian cabinet stated on Thursday.

The supply season will start from April 15, 2024, until August 15, 2024, and the purchase prices were set as wheat with a purity grade of 23.5 carats is priced at 2,000 Egyptian pounds per ardeb.

For purity grades of 23 and 22.5 carats, the prices are 1,950 and 1,900 Egyptian pounds per ardeb, respectively.

All locally-grown wheat varieties, free from insect infestation, sand, and gravel, and with a minimum purity grade of 22.5 carats, are covered in this decision.
