Egypt signs aerial mining survey deal with Xcalibur

Egypt’s Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority and Spanish company Xcalibur signed on Sunday the initial contract for a nationwide comprehensive geophysical aerial survey project of Egypt’s mineral resources. The deal comes in cooperation with the Nuclear Materials Authority and Drone Tech.

The aerial survey project is a key strategic initiative to drive a qualitative shift in Egypt’s mining sector.

The comprehensive geophysical aerial survey will cover six geographical regions across Egypt, including the southern and northern Eastern Desert, Sinai, the northern and southern Western Desert, and the Bahariya Oasis and Abu Tartour in the New Valley Governorate.

Survey operations will be carried out by Xcalibur using the company’s latest aircraft and advanced technologies, alongside cooperation with the Nuclear Materials Authority to benefit from its technical and scientific expertise and enhance the accuracy of the project’s results and technical outputs.

An aircraft belonging to the authority will also participate in the survey in cooperation with Drone Tech to maximise the use of national assets and capabilities.
