Egypt signs MoU for 273,000-square-metre logistics centre at Dekheila Port

The Alexandria Port Authority signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hassan Allam Utilities and Al Tarek Capital for Real Estate Asset Management to study the establishment, development, and operation of an integrated regional and international logistics centre covering 273,008 square metres in the western hinterland of El-Dekheila Port.

The centre will provide distribution, re-export, and value-added logistics services as part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives.

Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir said the agreement falls within the Ministry of Transport’s plan to develop Egyptian ports, maximise the use of their assets and capabilities, and strengthen private-sector partnerships in investment and service projects.

The project aims to open new investment opportunities in logistics activities at Dekheila Port by offering storage, cargo handling, distribution, re-export, final product preparation, and light industrial services.

These activities are expected to add value to traded goods, improve services for exporters and importers, enhance the port’s competitiveness, attract investment and regional and international trade flows, and strengthen the integration of Egyptian ports into global supply chains and trade networks.

El-Wazir directed the parties to intensify meetings to expedite the preparation and signing of the terms and conditions agreement, paving the way for the project’s implementation.
