Egypt stocks start February trade 1.4% down

Egypt’s bourse dropped Monday with losses worth 2.6 billion Egyptian pounds (US$ 332 million) on Local and foreign sell offs.

Market capitalisation has reached 388.427  billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 edged down 1.43 percent to 5906.92 points.

EGX50 EWI index tumbled 1.14  percent to 1084.39 points.

EGX20 decreased 1.80 percent to 5945.56 points.

On the other hand, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 went down 1.13 percent to 352.28 points. The price index, EGX100 sagged 1.12 percent 707.58 points.

Turnovers high

On Monday, the bourse’s trading volume hit 125.246 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.135  billion pounds, exchanged through 16,979 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 160 listed securities have been traded in; 80 declined, 45 advanced; while 29  kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and foreign investors were net sellers Monday seizing 91 percent and 5.71 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 7.016 million pounds and 39.765 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, Arab investors were net buyers getting 3.28 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 46.781 million pounds, excluding the deals.
