Egypt to compensate families of Cairo church bombing victims

The Egyptian cabinet decided in a meeting on Saturday to issue compensations to the families of the victims of the Sunday bombing at the St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Cairo, Arabic Ahram website reported.

The families of those who died in the blast will receive EGP 100,000 and an exceptional monthly pension of EGP 1,500 per victim.

Those injured in the bombing and were hospitalised for more than 72 hours will receive EGP 40,000 and will have their medical fees paid.

The suicide bombing was one of the bloodiest Egypt has seen in years, killing 26 people, mainly women, and injuring over 40 others.

The explosion also caused severe damage to several parts of the church.

The health ministry said on Friday that 23 of those injured in the attack remain hospitalised, three of whom are in critical condition.
