Egypt to end daylight-saving time on Thursday

Egypt will end daylight-saving time (DST) starting on Thursday, 26 October at 23:59, shifting the clock back by 60 minutes, according to Sameh Al-Kheshen, the official cabinet spokesperson.

The government has decided earlier in March to restore applying daylight-saving time setting annually, starting from April’s last Friday and until October’s last Thursday, with the aim of “rationalising energy use”.

This comes in light of the economic conditions and changes the world is witnessing and the government’s efforts to rationalise energy exploitation, the cabinet said in a previous statement.
