Egypt to hold first Greek university campus abroad

Egypt is set to hold Greece’s first ever university campus abroad in the city of Alexandria and it is expected to be fully functional in 2025, a local press reported on Sunday.

The University of Patras will open its first branch in the city after a recent agreement between the Greek government and the Greek Community of Alexandria.

The University was founded in 1964 and is the third largest university in Greece. It holds 24 multidisciplinary departments divided on five schools.

The new campus will house  two departments: a Greek department, and an English department. It will offer a variety of subjects such as Greek culture, language and philosophy.

The lecturing staff will include professors from the Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) in Cyprus, Greece, along with a number of external collaborators.
