Egypt-US trade exchange down 26.5 % in 5 months

The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the US witnessed a decline by 26.5 percent during the first 5 months of 2020 on the back of Coronavirus, according to CAPMAS.

The trade exchange between two countries record about $ 2.467 billion compared to $ 3.356 billion during the same period in 2019.

The Foreign Trade Bulletin issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics indicated that US acquired 6.6 percent of the total value of Egyptian foreign trade during the period from “January to May 2020.”

In addition, the trade balance between the two countries is in favor of US at $ 1.332 billion.

US acquired 5 percent of the value of Egyptian exports during the period from “January to May 2020”, at about $ 567.809 million, compared to $ 968.203 million during the same period in 2019, a decline of 41.4 percent, as it fell in May by 55.6 percent to record 77.863 million Dollars in exchange for $175.520 million.
