Egyptian Criminal Code Should Be Suspended: Lawsuit

Egyptian lawyer Heba Gamal Ramadan filed a lawsuit on Wednesday before the Administrative Judiciary Court; calling for suspending the Criminal Procedures Code and Egyptian Penal Code, this is from the period of issuing decision number 5 the statement by the SCAF, till drafting new constitution for the country. This will annual all the procedures and criminal trials of the accused who had been referred to the criminal courts.

The lawsuit (56876/66) litigates Egypt’s President, the minister of justice, the prosecutor general, and the minister of interior as well as the director of the general administration of Prison Authority.

The lawsuit explained that when the SCAF issued a statement of suspending the Egyptian constitution, all the subordinated laws lost their legislation.

It added that the continuity of implementing these laws is void, as it couldn’t implement laws that have no legislation.
