Egyptian film Out on the Street wins best film award at Latin-Arab Int’l Film Festival

The Egyptian documentary film Bara Fil Sharea (“Out on the Street”, 2015) won the Best Feature Film Award at the 5th Latin-Arab International Film Festival (Festival Internacional De Cine Latino Árabe), in Buenos Aires.

The award also went to Degradé (Palestine, France, Qatar), by Palestinian filmmakers Arab and Tarzan Nasser.

Moreover, Mother of the Unborn, a film by Egyptian director Nadine Salib, received a special mention in the competition for Arab films.

Bara Fil Sharea is a hybrid documentary film by filmmakers Jasmina Metwaly and Philip Rizk.

The film is produced by Seen Films, a Cairo-based film house and the entity behind Sawt Min Al-Toroqat (“Sound from the Hallways”, 2012), a short video-art film by filmmaker Lasse Lau, and Bayt Al-Tout (“The Mulberry House”, 2013), a long feature film by the Academy Awards-nominated Scottish-Yemeni filmmaker Sara Ishaq.

Additionally, Bara Fil Sharea is one of 16 films participating in the documentary film competition in the ongoing 26th edition of Carthage Film Festival (21-28 November), where it will make its Arab premiere on 26 November.
