Egyptian shares close mixed on Monday, 17 August 2026

Egyptian shares closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark EGX30 index falling 0.79 per cent, while small- and mid-cap stocks gained.

The EGX30, which tracks Egypt’s largest and most actively traded companies, ended at 55,415.07 points. The EGX33 Shariah index fell 0.87 per cent to 6,636.63 points, while the EGX35-LV slipped 0.24 per cent to 6,882.03 points.

The EGX70 index, which tracks small- and mid-cap stocks, rose 0.63 per cent to 21,771.03 points, while the broader EGX100 gained 0.33 per cent to 28,106.43 points.

Market capitalisation stood at 4.288 trillion Egyptian pounds.

Non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers, recording net purchases of 13.274 billion pounds.

Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers, recording net sales of 9.773 billion pounds and 3.500 billion pounds, respectively.
