Egypt’s Agiba makes 2 oil discoveries in W. Desert

Agiba Petroleum Co, an affiliate to the Ministry of Petroleum, made two new oil field discoveries in the Western Desert, Iris-001X and Nada Sharq-002X, Al Arabiya Business reported on Thursday.

The two discoveries are still under evaluation to determine the reserves and expected production rates of oil and natural gas, an official told Al Arabiya Business.

“The data that led to the discoveries was made by applying the 3d seismic reflection technology, which helps track geological structure and calculate the quantities of oil.

The technology has also led to oil discoveries in Merged Meleiha in the Western Desert. The data was collected in 2010 and was processed in 2016-2019.

Moreover, the seismic reflection technology led to the Merged Meleiha Rose 001X and Meleiha Garden 001X also in the Meleiha area in the past two years which were developed with initial production rates of 761 barrels per day and about 14.9 million cubic feet of gas per day,” he added.
