Egypt’s annual inflation rises to 36% in Feb

Egypt saw a surge in its annual headline inflation to 36 per cent in February up from 31.2 per cent in January, as reported by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) on Sunday.

The monthly inflation rate surged to 11 per cent in February, up from 1.7 per cent in January, with the consumer price index (CPI) reaching 219.4 points.

The meat and poultry prices increased by 25 per cent. Fish and seafood prices saw a surge of 14.2 per cent. Meanwhile, dairy products, honey, and eggs prices jumped by 12.8 per cent. Fruits and vegetables soared by 7.3 per cent, and 9.2 per cent, respectively.

Sugar prices rose by 6.9 per cent, while medical products appliances, and equipment prices climbed by 17.3 per cent.
