Egypt’s Arab Contractors signs JV deal with Angolan Mercons

Egyptian construction giant Arab Contractors (AC) said on Wednesday it had signed a joint venture agreement with Angolan Mercons- Engenharia E Construção Civil, S.A. Company.

The new JV, named Arab Contractors – Luanda, will specialise in implementing various construction projects in Angola.

The move is part of the Egyptian ministry of housing’s drive to boost cooperation with African countries and open business horizons for the Egyptian contracting companies in the continent.

The establishment of the new company comes as a culmination of the successful visit made by Angolan Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning, and Housing, Carlos Alberto dos Santos to Cairo at the invitation of his Egyptian counterpart, Assem El Gazzar, said AC chairman Ahmed El Assar in a statement.

El Assar further said that the visit was followed by a another by Arab Contractors leaders to Angola, and many discussion sessions were held with Angolan government agencies and local contracting companies.

Egyptian Minister El Gazzar is expected to visit Angola next month to sign a cooperation protocol with the Angolan Ministry of Public Works, Urban Planning, and Housing according to what was agreed upon during Minister Carlos’ Cairo visit.
