Egypt’s cement production to reach 23mln tons surplus by end-2019

Egypt’s cement production surplus will reach 23 million tonnes by the end of the current year, Noha Bakr Executive Director of the Cement Division said.

Bakr made these comments on the side lines of a building material conference held in Cairo in the presence of national and international investors.

She pointed out the importance of the cement industry, which employs nearly 50,000 direct employment, and 200,000 non-direct empolyment with an estimated investment volume exceeding 250 billion Egyptian pounds of which 52%  is foreign investments.

Bakr added that cement manufacturers are working on using alternative fuel so as to reduce the energy bill that represent 50 to 60 percent of  cement component cost.
