Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib met with the Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal Abdullah El-Ebiary and the CEO of Renergy Egypt Robert Valk to discuss the country’s flagship green hydrogen project in Sinai.
El-Khatib called green hydrogen a cornerstone of Egypt’s clean energy transition and investment strategy, citing the Sinai project as a model for sustainability and a boost to Egypt’s regional energy leadership.
El-Ebiary noted that the project is developing rapidly, with plans to install a 15-gigawatt electrolyser and a water storage and pumping system at an elevation of 800 metres to generate power when needed. Once fully operational, the project is expected to provide a steady energy supply of 3.1 gigawatts.
He added that the initiative marks a strategic step towards a more sustainable future, with continued cooperation between the Egyptian government and private investors key to its success.
