Egypt’s Exports of Rice Records Historic Growth, Attaining EGP1.5 bln

In January 2013 Egypt’s exports of rice achieved the biggest growth rate in the history of the agricultural crops sector, recording EGP 1.5 billion, 76% up from a year before.

The nearest growth rate that agricultural crops exports achieved during the last years was in 2010, which recorded 56%; compared to exports in 2009. The agriculture crops exports to the Arab countries’ markets attained EGP 773 million, while the exports to the EU markets achieved EGP 310 million in January 2013; according to sources to “Amwal Al Ghad”.

For his part, Magdi Al Waliliy, Member in the Agricultural Export Council (AEC), asserted to “Amwal Al Ghad” that the agriculture exports achieved a big leap in 2013 after the third bid of exporting rice last year.
