Egypt’s exports surge 10% in Jan-April ’24

Egypt’s commodity exports recorded a 10 per cent growth during the first four months of 2024, reaching $12.912 billion compared to $11.782 billion during the same period in 2023, the Ministry of Trade and Industry reported on Tuesday.

The report identified Saudi Arabia as the top market for the Egyptian commodity exports, seizing a share of $1.096 billion, followed by Turkey of $1.076 billion, Italy of $793.1 million, UAE of $735 million, and the USA of $716.2 million.

Egypt’s top exports during the first four months of this year include building materials at a value of $2.876 billion, food industries of $2.102 billion, chemical products and fertilisers of $1.976 billion, and agricultural products at $1.765 billion.

The exports saw a rise in several key items during the period from January to April 2024, including fresh and dried citrus fruits ($767 million), gold ($650 million), nitrogenous fertilisers ($588.5 million), insulated wires and cables ($440 million), and petroleum oils ($362.4 million).

Egypt’s Trade Minister seeks to expand exports from all sectors to global markets through collaboration with businesses and exporters, aiming to boost product competitiveness and reach the $100 billion annual export target.
