Egypt’s food bill sees surge to $63.8 billion in six years

Egypt’s food bill will probably climb to 500 billion Egyptian pounds (US$63.8 billion) in the next six years, chairman of Juhayna Food Industries said on the sidelines of an economic conference Wednesday.

The country’s food bill currently stands at 300 billion pounds.

Safwan Thabet further added that Egypt’s food import bill has doubled to 20 billion pounds.
