Egypt’s Foreign Ministry Denounces Israel’s Arrest Against Palestinian Parliamentarians

The Deputy Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Counselor Nazih El-Nagari, has condemned the arrest campaign by the Israeli authorities against the Palestinian parliamentarians; calling on Israel to immediately set free. On the same context, El-Nagari condemned the policy of the administrative detention that Israel is exercising against the Palestinian people, in the light of violating all the international laws.

An Egyptian official has affirmed that the Israeli campaign included in a series of rejected arbitrary procedures that Israel take against the Palestinians.

There are currently about 4,500 Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons; 178 are held without charges and 15 are Hamas members of the Palestinian equivalent of a parliament, the Legislative Council. In recent weeks, Hamas sympathizers have been the target of an arrest campaign as Israel tries to destabilize Palestinian politics and the relatively peaceful rapport between the rival main parties, Hamas and Fatah.

It is worth mentioning that the countries members in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have condemned that the Israeli aggressions on Gaza strip in November 2012; violating the international law imposed on Gaza strip. They called on Israel to immediately stop this illegal aggression against the Palestinian people, and also they called for reconstructing Gaza strip after the Israeli military aggression took place in December 2008, January 2009 and November 2012.
