Egypt’s former interior minister Al-Adly placed under house arrest

The Cairo Criminal Court on Tuesday has placed Habib El-Adly, the former Mubarak-era interior minister, under house arrest pending trial in an embezzlement case. According to the Oman News Agency, the trial was postponed to 13 December and includes 13 defendants that had worked in the Interior Ministry.

According to the state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram, the defendants are accused of illegally obtaining EGP 3.5m. All defendants have been banned from travel and have had their assets, and the assets of their spouses, frozen.
