Egypt’s Investment Min. discusses digital payments collaboration with Visa

Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, held a meeting with Robert Thomson, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Government Engagement at Visa, on the sidelines of the 2025 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

The meeting centred on Visa’s strategic priorities in banking, including digital wallets, mobile payments, and expanding partnerships in emerging markets.

El-Khatib also outlined Egypt’s investment potential, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline financial, trade, and monetary policies to attract global investors, facilitate trade, and boost foreign investments and exports.

Discussions further tackled Visa’s cutting-edge technologies, particularly in contactless payments and cybersecurity, as key areas for collaboration. Both parties emphasised the potential for partnership to strengthen Egypt’s financial ecosystem and support economic growth.
