Egypt’s MCIT Excludes Tech-Village Launch In Damietta, Eyes 3 Villages

Egypt’s Information and Communication Technology Ministry (MCIT) has excluded to launch technological village in Damietta according to investment plans which offered by the Ministry before the revolution.

Eng.Atef Helmy, Egyptian (ICT) Minister, said Damietta which announced by the Ministry earlier for spreading information technology (IT) in it, will never achieve the real economic, pointing out that the nature work of Damietta and the population do not need investments to establish new technological zones.

The Minister has asserted that the Ministry is currently working  to spread the (IT) in the governorate by the way that suits the needs of small traders and manufactures, noting that the requirments which required by Damietta differ from the high density governorates.

Helmy has pointed out that the Ministry is focusing now on the negotiations with the Housing Ministry so as to launch technological zones in Aswan, Assiut due to the high rate of population density along with the population are youths and their contribution to the production of technological products.

Helmy has emphasized that the Ministry is addressing Mansoura in order to allocate areas for establishing technological city to make the best use of the youths capacities, especially in the production of mobile applications, asserting that the youths have a huge capacities in producing applications.

Furthermore, Helmy has confirmed that the Ministry is ongoing in supporting the technological cities, pointing out that it will inaugurate 5 buildings in Maadi Technological zone by the end of the current month.
