Egypt’s Mobile Operators Await Tax Law Rise before Increasing Calls Prices

Egypt’s mobile operators will wait the approval of increasing tax law on mobile services before taking any decision concerning mobile service rise, Mr. Khaled Hegazy , External Affairs and Legal Director for Vodafone Egypt asserted.

The mobile operators cannot predict the effect of raising mobile phones services in the current time until the final decision of increasing the targeted tax will be approved, Hegazy noted.

In a statement issued by Finance Ministry, it expected that the growth rate of tax on mobile service reaches 60% to reach up EGP6.3 billion against EGP3.96 billion at May-end.

Moreover, Mobile operators are expecting that the services will raise within the upcoming months amid fuel price rise.
