Egypt’s NRIAG: no threat of Moroccan earthquake
Egypt is not at risk of the Moroccan earthquake Gad El-Qady, President of the National Research institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), said after worries that followed the devastating tremblor that hit Morocco spread, on Saturday.
He furtherly clarified, on a televised phone call, that the Moroccan earthquake occurred far from the Egyptian territories, with its closest point to the Egyptian city, Siwa, being 3,200 kilometers away, explaining that there are no reasons for the Egyptian residents to be concerned due to social media rumors.
A 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck the North African nation late Friday night. the quale killed more than 2,000 people, flattened buildings in cities and villages.
