Paints exports drop 18% in eight months- Egypt’s Council

Egypt’s exports of paints and coatings dropped by 18 percent in January-August 2016 to around US$21.8 million compared to US$26.6 million at the same period of 2015.

The latest report released by state’s Chemical Export Council (CEC) stated that exports of paints sector represented 1.1 percent of total chemicals exports during the first eight months of 2016.

The report also stated that 10 firms seized 84.6 percent of total paints exports with exports estimated at US$18.5 million.

KAPCI Coatings was the largest paints exporter since its eight-month exports reached around US$11.4 million, getting 52.1 percent of total exports of paints sector.

Following KAPCI, the International Group for Modern Coatings – Mido achieved exports estimated at around US$1.68 million by the end of August.

The report pointed out that ten states captured 60.2 percent of Egypt’s total exports of paints and coatings in January-August 2016 with exports of U$13.15 million.
