Egypt’s Petroleum Marine Services completes deepwater gas project

Egypt’s Petroleum Marine Services Company (PMS) has successfully completing marine operations for the tenth phase of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Gas Field Development Project, commissioned by Burullus Gas Company. This milestone, announced by the Ministry of Petroleum on Monday, positions PMS as the first Egyptian and Arab company to execute large-scale deepwater projects that meet global standards.

PMS fast-tracked the production of wells for the project’s tenth phase, employing advanced underwater technologies such as remotely operated control systems (WROV). The company utilised its state-of-the-art marine units, PMS Mayo and PMS Burullus, conducting synchronised operations (SIMOPS) in collaboration with DeepTech’s subsea systems.

In partnership with its strategic ally, DeepTech, PMS provided engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning (EPIC) services. The scope of work included laying two subsea power cables at a depth of 660 meters and installing critical electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical connections to link the wells to production.

The project showcased PMS’s innovation and adaptability, particularly through the upgrade of the PMS Mayo marine unit to execute cable-laying operations using local expertise. Key collaborations with partners such as Petrojet, responsible for manufacturing components, and Longitude, which provided engineering studies, further highlighted the initiative’s success.

This accomplishment reflects PMS’s strategic focus on enhancing its competitive edge and modernising its marine fleet to support deepwater oil and gas projects. It also aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030, bolstering the global standing of Egyptian companies in the energy sector and reinforcing their capability to deliver cutting-edge solutions on an international scale.
