Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum, Karim Badawi, inspected night shift operations and stayed overnight with workers on the EDC 73 drilling rig during a field tour in the Western Desert.
Badawi carried out an inspection visit to the EDC 73 rig operated by the Egyptian Drilling Company under the concession of Agiba Petroleum Company in the Meliha area.
During the visit, the Minister stayed on site with workers and closely followed operations during the night shift. He stressed that production sites operate around the clock to ensure operational continuity and secure sustainable energy supplies.
He reviewed ongoing drilling activity at the rig, which is currently drilling the development well North Lotus Deep 2 in the Meliha area. Drilling and completion are expected to be finalised within one month, with an estimated production of around 1,000 barrels of oil per day, in addition to 2 million cubic feet of gas.
