Egypt’s PM attends US regional summit

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly participated on Tuesday in a summit hosted by US President Donald Trump with regional countries on the sidelines of the High-level Meetings of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly.

Madbouly attended the summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Sisi, alongside representatives from the Gulf Arab states, Türkiye, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon.

The summit reviewed developments in the Middle East and efforts to de-escalate tensions through political and diplomatic solutions that serve shared interests and support the region’s aspirations for peace, development, and prosperity.

Participants also discussed efforts to advance Trump’s plan for the Gaza Strip, particularly its second phase, to support the ceasefire, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, launch early recovery and reconstruction efforts, and establish a serious political path toward a just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian cause based on international legitimacy resolutions.
