Egypt’s PM, Rwanda President discuss Bilateral Economic Ties at COMESA meet

Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab met Tuesday with Rwandan President Paul Kagame –on the sidelines of COMESA’s 18th Summit taking place in Ethiopia. Mahlab has expressed Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with Rwanda in commercial and economic fields.

The meeting was also in the presence of the Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade.

During the meeting, Mahlab asserted on close friendship relations between Cairo and Kigali hailing the developmental and social efforts that Rwanda exerted to overcome its hard phase in the previous period. He also thanked the Rwandan president for his country’s participation in Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), took place in Sharm El-Sheikh last on March 13-15.

The Egyptian prime minister has invited Kagame to attend the Tripartite Summit of the East Africa Community (EAC), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), scheduled next June in Sharm El-Sheikh.

On the other side, Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour -Minister of Trade and Industry- welcomed Rwandan President’s invitation for Egyptian businessmen to invest in Rwanda. Abdel Nour affirmed that he would visit Rwanda heading a delegation encompassing Egyptian businessmen and investors to discuss investment opportunities in the Rwandan market.
