The total population of Egypt will reach 89,100,000 people, according to a state statistics body Saturday.
The Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) reported that Egypt’s population had increased from 72.8 million in 2006 to 76.1 million at the beginning of 2009.
Cairo is the country’s most populous governorate with 9.3 million citizens, while South Sinai is the least crowded at just 167,000 people.
According to CAPMAS the birth rate has increased from 25 births per thousand in 2006 to 31 births in 2014.
