Egypt’s Prime Minister inaugurates $5m Green Recycle factory in Sokhna

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inaugurated on Thursday the Green Recycle Limited plastics recycling factory in the integrated Sokhna Industrial Zone, with investments of $5 million.

The project is built on an area of 30,000 square metres, with an annual production capacity of 8,000 tons, and provides around 50 direct jobs. It aims to maximise the use of plastic waste by recycling it into products with economic value, supporting local industry with high-quality, competitively priced recycled raw materials.

The project also contributes to reducing environmental pollution, creating jobs in collection, sorting, and manufacturing, and supports the state’s direction to increase exports and generate foreign currency.

The inauguration took place during Madbouly’s tour of the Suez Canal Economic Zone. Madbouly said the project aligns with the state’s direction to adopt green economy policies and enhance environmental sustainability.

He noted that the government is working to stimulate investments in recycling and waste management as promising sectors that deliver integrated economic and environmental returns. He added that these efforts contribute to reducing pollution rates and improving the quality of life.
