Egypt’s Railways Sign Contracts With Italy, Germany On Developing 150 Crossings

During the current week the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENR) will sign contracts with an Italian company and a German company which won the tender offered by the authority to develop 150 crossing electronically at total costs of EGP 300 million, said Eng. Hussein Zakaria, Chairman of the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENR).

The development work in the crossings will start immediately after signing the contracts, according to the specifications determined by the authority.

Zakaria has referred that the authority selected the most dangerous 150 crossings to undergo the development processes; adding that the ENA had set a plan to develop all the crossing on several stages. These developments aim to achieve the safety for the passengers and the citizens who cross the rail road.

The ENA has signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Military Production for a project of designing and manufacturing a local example of crossings, which would be experiences for 3 months.
