Egypt’s Raya to launch assembly electric cars in H2-2020

Raya Auto, a subsidiary of Egyptian Raya Holding, is planning to offer locally-assembled electric cars in the North African country in the second half of 2020.

The company will work with Japan’s Daihatsu Motor Co, an affiliate of Toyota Motor Group, in assembling the electric cars, Raya Auto’s chief executive Tamer Abdul Aziz said on Wednesday.

“We are negotiating with three partners, two from China and another from India to take part in assembling their products in our factories,” Abdul Aziz said.

The talks will see agreements to launch a range of high-quality affordable light vehicles, the Egyptian official added.
