Egypt’s SCA eyes local dredger manufacturing with Royal IHC collaboration
The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) aims to advance the localisation of dredger manufacturing within Egypt’s national shipyards in collaboration with the Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC, said chairman Osama Rabie on Monday.
During a recent meeting, Rabie and Royal IHC’s CEO Derk te Bokkel discussed strategies for introducing advanced dredging technology to Egypt’s shipbuilding industry. This partnership aims to enhance the capabilities of the SCA’s shipyards and support the ongoing development of the Suez Canal.
“We are eager to further our collaboration with Royal IIHC and explore opportunities to localise dredger manufacturing in Egypt, which will contribute significantly to our infrastructure development and enhance the capabilities of our national shipyards,” said Rabie. He also praised the performance of two state-of-the-art dredgers, Mihab Mimesh and Hussein Tantawi, which are already playing a key role in the ongoing dredging of the southern section of the canal.
