Egypt’s SCZONE plans Pakistan investment roadshow

Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) plans an investment roadshow in Pakistan as it seeks to attract more manufacturers and expand bilateral cooperation beyond textiles into ports and logistics, the zone’s chairman said on Wednesday.

SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien discussed investment opportunities with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt Aamir Shouket during a meeting at the authority’s headquarters in the New Capital, according to an SCZONE statement.

Gamal El-Dien said SCZONE aims to build on existing Pakistani investments by targeting industries in which Pakistani companies have established expertise, including textiles, garments, sporting goods, ports, and logistics.

He highlighted an ongoing textile and garment project by a Pakistani company in SCZONE’s West Qantara Industrial Zone, describing it as a platform for expanding bilateral industrial cooperation.

“We are planning an investment roadshow to Pakistan to hold direct discussions with Pakistani companies and build on the strong economic ties between our two countries,” Gamal El-Dien said.

He added that SCZONE’s integrated network of industrial zones and seaports, modern infrastructure and Egypt’s free trade agreements provide manufacturers with access to regional and global markets.

Shouket said SCZONE’s one-stop-shop investor services, strategic location on the Suez Canal, and competitive energy costs make Egypt an attractive destination for Pakistani manufacturers.

He added that these advantages position the economic zone as a competitive production and export base for companies seeking to expand into regional and international markets despite geopolitical uncertainty.
