Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh Airport receives 1st flight from India for wedding tourism

Egypt’s Sharm El Sheikh International Airport has received the first direct flight from Ahmedabad Airport in India, to attend an Indian wedding ceremony that will be held for three days over next few days, Ministry of Tourism stated on Wednesday.

The airport welcomed the passengers, guests and newlyweds by the traditional way through firing vast jets of water over the passing plane, the statement added.

This step aims to introduce a new type of tourism, namely wedding tourism in Sharm El Sheikh, the concerned travel agency said, noting the three-day wedding party will take place at one of the top tourist resorts in the iconic Red Sea resort city.

This aligns within the efforts of Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to promote the Egyptian tourist destination for weddings and develop the wedding tourism to attract its visitors to Egypt.

The director of the airport Nabil Al Mallah has welcomed the plane was received with the director of the travel agency and the head of the restaurant that will host the wedding party.

In September, the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation’s head Amr El Kady met with representatives of the Federation of Indian Wedding EMF Global, in order to promote wedding tourism in Egypt.
