Sisi Calls on Iran’s Pezeshkian to de-escalate regional tensions at BRICS Summit
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi urged his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian to help de-escalate regional tensions and work towards a lasting political settlement during talks on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in New Delhi on Sunday.
Sisi said Egypt supports efforts to restore stability across the region and called on Iran to take steps towards a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to the crisis, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.
He said such efforts should respect the sovereignty of regional countries and protect the resources of their peoples.
The Egyptian president also called for an end to attacks on Arab countries, saying that would help uphold good-neighbourly relations and strengthen the historical and cultural ties among the region’s peoples.
