Egypt’s State Security Court Steps Down From Case Against Jordanian Accused Of Spying For Israel

Egypt’s state security court on Saturday stepped down from the case against the Jordanian, Bashar Ibrahim Abu-Zeid, accused of spying for Israel’s Mosaad.

The case was referred to the Cairo Appeals Court to assign the case to another court.

Abu-Zaid, a Jordanian communications engineer, is charged with planting communication networks in Egypt and using them to spy on Egyptian officials in exchange for payment from Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency.

The Israeli official in the case, Ofer Haray, is being tried in absentia.

Abu-Zaid was arrested in Egypt in 2011 and was referred to court in August of the same year.
