Egypt’s stocks start week with slight gains of $97mn

Egypt’s bourse starts week with slight gains of 862 million  Egyptian pounds ($97million) despite local  and Arab investors’ selloffs.

The main index, EGX30 grew 0.32 percent, to 7571.7  points.

EGX50 EWI index hiked 0.39  percent, to 1412.39 points; EGX20 also rose 0.33  percent, to 7625.71  points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 went up  0.51  percent, to 369.89  points. Price index, EGX100 also increased 0.46  percent to 781.43 points.

Market Caps

Market capitalisation has recorded 407.942 billion pounds during the closing session of  Sunday.

Turnovers

On Sunday, the bourse’s trading volume hit 159.078 million securities, with turnovers closed at 1.275 billion pounds, exchanged through 17,661 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 165  listed securities have been traded in 49 declined, 76 advanced; while 34  kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Local and Arab investors were net  sellers controlling 96.61 and 1.92  percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 6.659  million pounds and 6.505 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers capturing 1.42  percent of the total market, with a net equity of 13.164  million pounds, excluding the deals.
