Egypt’s unemployment rate falls 7.5% in Q2 – CAPMAS

Unemployment rate in Egypt fell 7.5 percent during the second quarter of the year from 8.1 percent during the same period last year, said the state-owned statistics agency CAPMAS on Thursday.

“The total labour force rose 0.4 percent to 28.069 million during the second quarter of 2019, compared with  27.968 million during the same quarter in 2018,” CAPMAS said in its recent bulletin.

A total of 2.094 million Egyptians were unemployed during the second quarter this year, marking a 27.2 percent decline.

The number of jobless people included 962,000 males and 1.132 million females, representing 7.5 percent of the total labour force, the agency added.
