ETUF Dismisses Minister Of Manpower

Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF) announced disobedience on the Minister of Manpower and Immigration, Khaled Al Azhary. It decided to have elections for workers without consulting the minister, besides taking the decision of dismissing him from the trade union organization. This decision came due to his interference in the affairs of the trade union organization through having some changes on the Trade Union Act.

The cabinet has approved the amendments on Law No. 35/1976, which concerns the independent syndicates.

Abdel Moneim El Gamal, Board Member, at Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF), said the federation will issue a decision of dismissing the minister of manpower and immigration from his membership in the federation.

He added that Ahmed Abdel Zaher, Chairman of ETUF, will receive today the heads of the trade union organizations to call on them to have elections through forming a committee in each organization.

He also elaborated that this decision of having elections for all the trade union organization depends on the international agreements 87 and 98.
