EU, France give Egypt $66 mln to upgrade grain silos

A European Union (EU) delegation in Cairo announced that the EU and France have provided Egypt with $66 million to upgrade its grain silos.

A representative in the delegation said that the fund aims to upgrade grain storage to at least 420 thousand tons.

The current grain storage in Egypt is 3.5 million tons, and it is expected to increase by around 12 percent.

The fund is part of a plan to help sustain food security in the Middle East and North Africa, and it has a budget of $240.71 million.

The plan was set in motion to help developing countries from the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its consequences.
