European stocks close lower amid new travel restrictions

European markets closed lower on Friday on the back of new travel restrictions by UK as all sectors and major bourses slid into negative territory.

The pan-European Stoxx 600 closed down 1.2%, with travel and leisure stocks dropping more than 2.3%

The U.K. has imposed a new 14-day quarantine period on all arrivals from France from Saturday due to the rising rate of coronavirus cases in the country. The Netherlands, Malta and Monaco were also added to the quarantine list, which already featured Spain and Belgium.
