FEI: Egypt Spends EGP 2 bln On Paper

Khaled Abdo, Chairman of Chamber of Printing Industries in Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), said Egypt’s total consumption of paper reaches 380.000 tons per year, with total EGP 2 billion costs.

He clarified that 160.000 tons are being manufacturing in Egypt, while the big part depends on importing from many countries; China, Malaysia and Indonesia are on the top, plus some European countries.

Abdo added that the chamber is seeking, through an initiative, to construct paper mill in Nagaa Hamady in order to increase the domestic production. He referred that the new factory production may reach 100.00 tons in a year; this in cooperation with  Egyptian Sugar and Integrated Industries, which will provide the factory with the demanded raw materials.
